Construction of earth-based satellite control centre to start soon

Launching of Azerbaijan Republic’s firsts telecommunication satellite into the geostationary orbit is scheduled for the 4-th quarter of 2012.

Control of the satellite’s flight will be carried out by the earth-based satellite control center, construction of which will start in October of this year. Presently, works on construction of the 2-nd telecommunication satellite are being implemented. At the same time, research works on construction of low-orbit satellites for ground observations are being carried out.

These satellites will be employed for drawing topographic maps, reflecting real situation in certain parts of earth surface, ecological monitoring and environment control, forecast and control of floods, monitoring of oil leakage and movement of oil patch, weather forecast and monitoring of natural disaster, forecast of agricultural output, monitoring of deforestation, fire detection, forecast of various emergency situations and etc.

Let’s note that construction of the satellite is carried out by “Orbital Sciences” corporation, the leading producer of satellites in the United States. The carrier rocket is built by “Arianespace” French company.

The satellite will be launched from the space launching site located in South America into the orbital position of 46° of east longitude, which was provided by “Measat” Malaysian company.

Launching of the 1-st observation satellites into the orbit is scheduled for 2014, and the 2-nd one – for 2015.
