The volume of the wearable devices market will exceed 120 million units in 2017


International Data Corporation (IDC) has released the forecast for the world market of wearable devices for the current and subsequent years.
 
Last year, it was estimated that 104.4 million wearable gadgets were sold globally. It is important to note that these data includes the supply of not only smart watches and fitness bracelets, but also various devices attached to clothing, as well as ear-ware.
 
This year, according to forecasts, total shipments of portable devices will reach 121.7 million units, which is  an increase of 16.6% compared to the previous year.
 
Supply of smart watches, according to analysts IDC, this year will amount to 67.4 million units, which makes 55.4% of the total volume of the portable electronics market.
 
Another 47.6 million pieces will be made up of fitness bracelets. Such devices will occupy approximately 39.1% of the total supply. Thus, all other gadgets will make only 5.5% of the market.
 
IDC also notes that by 2021 the world market of portable devices will reach 229.5 million units. The average annual growth rate for the period from 2017 to 2021 will amount to 17.2%.
