The amount of data leakage grew by eight times in the world


According to InfoWatch, a company specializing in information security technologies, the amount of leakage of confidential data on a global scale has increased 8-fold, which is connected with the active development of the digital economy.
 
InfoWatch estimated that the world volume of personal and billing records, compromised as a result of leaks, including social security numbers, plastic card details and other critical information, reached 7.78 billion records versus 1.06 for January-June 2016. Over the past year, leakage has caused the loss of 3 billion records.
 
Experts associate the increase in the number and volume of leaks withy the use of information in the digital world, including the transfer of services in electronic form, e-commerce, virtual money and objects of exclusive rights (intellectual property) in digital form, dailycomm.ru reports.
