OnePlus 5T charges faster than Google Pixel 2, iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8

OnePlus's Dash Charge promises enough power to last the day in just 30 minutes. In our tests, we have seen the OnePlus 5T obtain a 60 percent charge in just 30 minutes using the bundled Dash Charger. While that is mighty impressive, a comprehensive test carried out by Tom's Guide has proved that the OnePlus 5T actually charges faster than most other high-end flagships, including the iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 and Samsung Galaxy S8.

Most Android smartphones, including the Google Pixel 2, use Qualcomm's quick charge technology. While the iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X support fast charging, Apple does not bundle a fast charger out of the box. To enable fast charging on the iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus, one has to purchase a 29-watt power adapter and a USB-C to Lightning cable for 68 dollars.

The test recorded the battery life of each smartphone after 30 minutes and 60 minutes of charging. All smartphones were switched on, started at zero percent battery and had their screen turned off. A total of 7 smartphones were tested - OnePlus 5T, LG V30, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Google Pixel 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

OnePlus 5T came out on top - attaining a 59 per cent charge in 30 minutes and almost a full charge (93 per cent) in an hour. The LG V30 held the runners up spot with an 86 per cent charge in an hour. The iPhones populated the 3rd, 4th and 5th spots in the list - with the iPhone X coming ahead of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X attained an 81 per cent charge in 60 minutes.

The Google Pixel 2 and Galaxy Note 8 did not fare very well - coming 6th and 7th (last) in the test. The Pixel 2 attained a 75 per cent charge in an hour and the Galaxy Note 8 reached 74 per cent in 60 minutes.
