More than 26 thousand electronic signature certificates were issued in 2017


The electronic signature, which reduces distances by saving time and manpower, has been used for the exchange of documents in Azerbaijan for more than 5 years now.
 
Electronic signature, which is an element of confirming electronic document, identifies process participants in the virtual space, provides safe and flexible implementation of electronic document exchange.
 
The benefits of electronic signature include time saving, privacy, convenience, integrity, recognition, reliability, responsibility, transition of business relationships and contacts to the electronic format.
 
Documents signed with an electronic signature can be delivered to where you need within a few seconds. Therefore, the use of electronic signatures is on the rise.
 
Thus, during 2017,  9,724 electronic signature certificates were issued to state agencies, 7,412 – to physical persons and 9,552 - to legal entities. So a total of 26,688 electronic signature certificates were issued in 2017, which is 3,648 more than in 2016.
 
According to statistics, from the date of the commissioning of electronic signature certificates until 01 January 2018, 75,674 electronic signature certificates were issued to state agencies, 24,536 – to physical persons and 26,516 – to legal entities. So a total of 126,726 electronic signature certificates were issued by the National Certification Services Centre during this period.
 
During 2017, 8,147,916 authentication and e-signature operations were carried out by state agencies. In the same period, 3,318,233 authentication and e-signature operations were carried out by physical persons and legal entities. So a total of 11,466,149 operations were carried out in 2017. This figure makes 38.4% of the 29,871,550 authentication and e-signature operations that had been carried out since 2011.
 
The electronic signature is also one of the means of authentication on the Electronic Government portal. During 2017, a total of 5,791,005 authentications with the use of electronic signature cards were registered on the portal.
 
Note that electronic signature certificates can be obtained from post branch offices, “Shabaka” service centers, the National Certification Services Centre’s registration centers, or they can be ordered online at  the electronic signature website (www.e-imza.az) or the Electronic Government Portal (www.e-gov.az).    
 
Note that electronic signatures have been widely used in the field of public administration since 2012.
