WhatsApp Beta for Android brings Voice Recording lock button

Popular messaging application WhatsApp has introduced Voice Recording lock button on its beta build version 2.18.71. With the new feature, users will be able to lock the voice recording button instead of holding onto to it as seen in current general builds. The feature aims aid users in recording voice notes, and along with that users can also listen to their recordings before they are sent. The Voice Recording lock button was originally released for iOS users a couple of months back, and the Facebook-owned company is now testing the feature for WhatsApp beta users on Android platform.

To make use of the Voice Recording lock feature, users will need to tap the mic button in the chat, and after 0.5 seconds, the UI will present a locked microphone button. Once displayed, users need to slide up their finger for enabling the lock recording option. The feature serves to replace the current option of holding onto the mic button until the entire recording is completed, which is quite a cumbersome task. The second new feature that will be implemented on the general build of WhatsApp is the option to listen to voice messages before sending them. Apart from new additions to the voice recordings, users will be able to read the size of a specific sticker pack before downloading them.

WhatsApp on March 30 rolled out a new feature in a Beta update that will soon enable iOS, Android and Windows Phone users migrate their data to a new number without much hassle. The new 'Change Number' feature update is currently available in the 2.18.97 Android beta update on Google Play Store and will soon arrive on iOS and Windows devices later. Users can now choose if they want to notify some or all contacts. After inserting the old and new phone numbers, WhatsApp will ask which contacts have to be notified of the new number.
