Baktelecom completes the first phase of “Internet to the house” project

Baku Telephone Communications LLC (Baktelecom) continues taking measures on improving the quality of telecommunication services and ensuring their uninterruptedness through the application of GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology.

Thus, Baktelecom is now completing the first phase of the “Internet to the house” project aimed at providing the population of Baku with broadband services.

The project covering 30 thousand apartments will already be commissioned this week.

At present, about 9 thousand apartments are provided with GPON technology-based communication services.

Orders from subscribers who wish to connect to advantageous internet-service packages are being accepted in a prompt manner, and multimedia services are being activated for customers within a short time.

In the near future, the process of creation of a GPON infrastructure that will cover 100,000 houses will begin within the second phase of the project.

Note that GPON technology, which is provided through fiber-optic lines, offers such advantages as up to 100 Mbit/sec connection speed, uninterrupted internet, no dependence on telephone lines.
