Scammers stole $ 172 billion from network users last year


In 2017, 978 million users became victims of Internet fraud in 20 countries, and the total amount of theft amounted to 172 billion dollars.
 
According to the “Norton Cyber Security Insights” cyber security report, prepared by Symantec, all this money was stolen from users as a result of various Internet scams.
 
Most often, the victims of hackers are people who use a large number of devices at home and at work and at the same time have a poor understanding of the basics of cybersecurity.
 
Data on cybercrime are given only for 20 countries. In alphabetical order this is Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Spain, Italy, Canada, China, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, USA, Sweden, France and Japan.
 
The report notes that on average, every victim of crime on the Web lost about $ 142.
 
Users from China suffered the most from cybercrimes.  In this country, almost 353 million people lost in aggregate a record 66-odd billion dollars, Hitech.newsru.ru reports.
