Samsung Galaxy A8 Star goes on sale in India, brings 6.3-inch Infinity Display, Snapdragon 660 SoC


Samsung’s latest mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A8 Star is now on sale in India. The device was quietly announced last week and will be available online exclusively on Amazon India. The Galaxy A8 Star comes soon after the launch of the flagship Galaxy Note 9 in India. Notably, the Galaxy A8 Star boats of a tall Infinity Display, dual camera setup and a large battery, among other things, at a price that squarely takes on the OnePlus 6.
 
The newest mid-range smartphone from Samsung sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity Display, which is as tall as the display on the Galaxy Note 8. It brings a 3D glass on the front and a 2.5D curved glass on the back. It gets a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset which is a pretty powerful mid-range processor that also powers the Nokia 7 Plus and the Mi A2.
 
The Galaxy A8 Star has only one variant which comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card. It houses a large 3,700mAh battery, which is bigger than the Galaxy S9+. It also comes with USB Type-C and fast charging support. The phone also comes with a dedicated Bixby button on the side.
 
Samsung is touting an advanced dual camera system in the back which it calls Dual Rear IntelliCam. This means the cameras will be able to adjust itself intelligently to take great pictures in any lighting condition. The cameras on the back include a 16MP PDAF primary sensor and a 24MP secondary sensor both with f/1.7 aperture. On the front, the Galaxy A8 Star gets a 24-megapixel sensor with f/2.0. The Galaxy A8 Star has price tag of $ 500.
