Conference on intellectual property protection in innovative development in Azerbaijan held


A conference on "Protection issues of intellectual property in innovative development" was held today at Heydar Aliyev Center.
 
The conference was held within the framework of the Innovation Week organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies together with the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and the UNESCO Information for All Program (IFAP).
 
Speaking at the conference, First Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ali Abdullayev spoke about the importance of the events held within the framework of the International Innovation Week organized in Azerbaijan for the first time on 26 -30 October.
 
The First Deputy Minister noted that about 20 events held as part of the Innovation Week are an integral part of the activities to achieve the goals reflected in the development concept "Azerbaijan 2020: Look into the Future".
 
According to Ali Abdullayev, a favorable innovation environment has already been created in Azerbaijan as a result of stimulating the widespread implementation of ICT. The importance of protecting intellectual property and copyrights to stimulate innovation and market regulation has also increased. "This is why the issues of intellectual property protection, which stimulates the creation, development and introduction of innovations and technological solutions and are an integral part of these processes, are of particular importance," the First Deputy Minister stressed.
 
Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency Kamran Imanov, in turn, stressed that innovative development and intellectual property constitute unity. He also noted that the position set forth by President Ilham Aliyev at the Davos Economic Forum – "Our future lies in government support for innovation, technology, good governance, transparency and entrepreneurs" was taken as the basis for activities in this direction.
 
Providing detailed information on the indicators of Azerbaijan in the field of protection of intellectual property rights, Kamran Imanov stressed that our country is a leader in the CIS on these indicators.
 
He also delivered an extensive presentation on the topic: "Protection issues of intellectual property in innovative development".
 
The conference continued its work with reports and discussions on the protection of intellectual property and copyright in the digital environment, the commercialization of research results, open data and rights to use them, issues of approval of intellectual property on new technologies, obtaining patents in the field of high technologies, intellectual property protection mechanisms and problems in electronic commerce, etc.
