Azerbaijan, Iran discuss exchange of experience in ICT field


Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade, who is on an official visit to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), met with Iran’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi  within the framework of the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union.
 
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues such as the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in the fields of telecommunications and postal communication, joint participation with other neighboring countries (Turkey and Russia) in regional projects, intensification of experience exchange, regulation of radio frequencies in border areas, cybersecurity, space industry, Iran’s use of Azerbaijan’s satellite resources,  prospects for cooperation in the fields of mobile communication services and the Internet.
 
It was noted that the International Exhibition & Conference BakuTel-2018, which will take place on December 4-7, will serve as a favorable platform for attracting private IT companies from Iran to the ICT sector of Azerbaijan. The Iranian side said that their country will be represented at BakuTel-2018 by a national pavilion.
 
The meeting also highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and exchanging experience in the field of startup ecosystem development.     
 
Towards the end of the meeting, a decision was adopted to discuss the issues that were discussed within this meeting at the meetings of the State Commission for Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in economic, trade and humanitarian spheres.
