EU4Digital project discussed as part of EaP program


A roundtable on the EU4Digital project of the Harmonization of Digital Markets (HDM) initiative was held today within the European Commission’s Eastern Partnership (EaP) program.
 
At the event, information was provided about the work done in our country as part of the EU4Digital project on six areas – “ICT Innovations and Startup Ecosystems”, “Telecom Rules”, “E-trade (e-commerce, e-logistics, e-customs)”, “E-health”, “E-trust and Security” and “E-skills” created within the HDM initiative, as well as measures to be implemented in 2020 - 2021.   
 
Coordinators across the country, representatives of relevant government agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organizations spoke about the essence of the program.
 
Head of the Innovations and Digital Development Department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Country Coordinator of HDM on ICT Innovation and Startup Ecosystem Rashad Azizov spoke about the work done in this direction and the policy of innovation in our country. He noted that the contact network in this direction was formed and representatives of innovation stakeholders were included. He also informed about the projects to be implemented in the country in the period of 2020 - 2021 and stressed the importance of accelerating the formation of the innovation ecosystem.
 
EU4Digital Country Representative for Azerbaijan, representative of Ernst & Young Anar Jafarzade spoke about the importance of the project and underlined   the importance of effective implementation of future strategic steps.
 
Then, coordinators across the country gave detailed information on the areas “Telecom Rules”, “E-trade”, “Digital Transport Corridors”, “E-Health”, “Trust and Security”, “Cyber Security”, “E-Skills” etc.
 
The achievements and work to be done in these areas in Azerbaijan were discussed, exchange of views was held on current state and prospects of the digital sector.
 
The event continued with speeches and discussions on trends in the digital sector in the world.
 
It should be noted that the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies represents our country in the initiative “Harmonization of Digital Markets”, and Azerbaijan is a coordinator country in the direction of “ICT Innovation and Startup Ecosystem” and sub-direction “E-customs”.
