‘Azerkosmos’ launches new web-page

A new web-page (http://www.azercosmos.az/) of the ‘Azerkosmos’ OJSC of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been launched. Besides such general information as the history of creation of ‘Azerkosmos’, its aims and activity directions, organizational structure, legislation base, administration and vacancies, the web-page contains thorough information about the coverage area of the first telecommunication satellite launched into orbit at the end of 2012, types of services rendered by the satellite, control centres, from which the satellite is operated.

This web-page will allow to provide the public with detailed information on activities taking place in the space industry and create the single database for storing information on  strategically important space projects.

Since ‘Azerkosmos’ is a commercial organization, it is expected that the web-site will help establish business relations with business circles following the  launch of the first telecommunication satellite.

Founded in 2010, ‘Azerkosmos’, within a relatively short period of time, managed to establish a close cooperation with leading foreign companies and financial institutions in order to launch into orbit, operate and maintain the satellite. It has also implemented a number of joint regional projects with international organisations. ‘Azerkosmos’ plans to launch two more satellites into orbit during the next 3 years.

At present, ‘Azerkosmos’ is carrying out  preparatory work for launching the first telecommunication satellite into orbit. At the same time, it is conducting research activities in local and foreign markets in order to identify new areas of application of capabilities of the low-orbit satellite, which is expected to be put into orbit in 2013.
