The beta version of Chrome 56 contains a malicious function

Last week Google released 56 stable version of Chrome for macOS, Windows and Linux. It includes several important changes, including accelerating the restart of the web pages, native support for the FLAC audio codec, warnings about unsafe websites and the transition from Flash to HTML5. But it turned out that Chrome 56 was one more unannounced feature that could spoil the experience of use for the millions of fans of Chrome.

According to the web developer Samuel Reid, Chrome 56 Google engineers wanted to use the new mechanism of “mute” background tabs when they are not used. The idea is to give each tab stock traffic, exceeding of which in the background activity stops. In theory this should help to increase productivity, and improve the autonomy of laptops and other compact devices. But in reality, the function was not working properly.

Browser vendors are obliged to worry about battery life, and a new feature was supposed to benefit. Unfortunately, this particular implementation does not take into account the current reality: the browser has ceased to be a reader for the – today the world’s largest application platform. Such a function could break the web,” said Samuel Reed.

Before the release of Chrome 56 for the casual user Google understand what problems may follow to implement this feature and decided to send technology to the improvement. Experts promise that they will make changes to the new mechanism and in the presence of positive reviews of this feature appears in Chrome 57.
