According to the managing director of Kaspersky Lab in Russia and the CIS Sergey Zemkov, over the past decade, the number of computer viruses on the Internet has increased by 208.3 times.
He said that every day Kaspersky Lab’s anti-virus laboratory registers 300 thousand new computer viruses.
The expert also added that this tendency clearly shows that the problem of cyberthreats in the 21st century is becoming increasingly dangerous, because today a wide variety of operations - from ordinary purchases and sales to secret transactions of international significance – are carried out on the Internet.
It is worth noting that in 1997 the laboratory specialists could detect just one virus per hour. After 10 years, in 2007, Kaspersky Lab could detect one virus per minute.
Today, the number has grown significantly, and specialists are trying to cope with this problem, Planet Today reports.
