The highest level of internet attacks was in the US – over 10 billion attacks were halted there, in China and Brazil the number of stalled trials exceeded 2 billion in India – 1.5 billion.
The most common malicious attachment was the .XLS format, for a total of 22 million spam attacks. And the number of blocked URLs that refer to malicious programs or host sites exceeded 1 billion. Among the countries whose inhabitants most often encountered malicious URLs are Japan (160 million blocked attacks), the United States (155 million) and Taiwan (73 million).
The number of cyber attacks has increased through the compromise between business financial correspondence (BEC). For example, about 10,000 cases were registered in 2017 and in 2018 already over 12,000. Most employees opened letters requesting payment on behalf of their suppliers. Or in cases where the sender seemed to be a lawyer or a lawyer in the company responsible for confidential matters.
However, the most popular were scams with burglaries in the top management account and sending letters or "mimicking" letters on behalf of the manager and finance director, to transfer funds to their controlled account. Australia (4,230 blocked threats) and the United States (3,694 blocked threats) suffered most from such attacks.
At the end of 2018, the five most malicious programs were identified: CoinMiner cryptocurrency mines (1,350,951 attacks), extortionist WannaCry (616,399 attacks) as well as Powload (378,825 attacks), Downad (240,746 attacks) and Sality (166,981 attacks ).
If we consider malicious programs within the scope of the so-called "scopes", for example, for the banking sector, Emotet file viruses are still the most dangerous nearly 133,500 attempts hindered by his participation. Evil and Ramnit – blocked 78,062 attacks. In the mobile sector for Android, it is SMSreg (1,638,167) and Shedun (1,345,900), for iOS it is IOS_Jail Break Tool.A (397) and IOS_I Back Door.A (65). In the case of PoS attacks, most scams used such malicious tools as TinyPOS (1,264) and Recoload (286).
