Google Assistant adds voice input to Chrome for Android

Google is phasing out its old voice recognition technology in favor of the Google Assistant. This time, support for the function of voice input using the Google Assistant received a proprietary Chrome browser for the Android mobile platform.

An option that allows you to abandon the use of the old voice recognition technology in favor of the Google Assistant appeared in the browser earlier, but before when it was activated, nothing happened. However, now this has changed, and support for the voice assistant has worked, as reported by the network source.

To launch this function, you need to go to the chrome: // flags / # omnibox-assistant-voice-search page, activate the corresponding option and restart Chrome. After that, users can use their voice to enter search queries, and the browser will process them correctly. Functionally, the voice search in the browser remains identical when using any of the available options.

The source notes that for the first time the ability to use the Google Assistant as a voice search tool was noticed in the Android version of Chrome back in January this year, but then the function did not work. Most likely, since then Google has made the necessary changes on the server side and now this tool can be adopted by all users of the company’s browser. The feature is reported to work correctly in the stable version of Chrome 87 for Android devices.
