HTCs upcoming flagship may be branded HTC U 11 and come in five different colors

Over the past few weeks, leaks have revealed quite a few aspects of HTC’s upcoming flagship for this year. The smartphone first spotted with its codename HTC Ocean, has recently been teased by the company confirming that the new flagship will be called ‘U’.

A separate report also suggests that the new smartphone which has so far been referred as HTC U will get a number and will officially be named as ‘HTC U 11’. The report comes from VentureBeat’s popular gadget leakster Evan Blass, based on unnamed sources. Blass claims that the ‘numeric component’ of the product name is supposed to let the consumers know that new HTC U 11 phone is the true successor to the HTC 10, while the ‘U’ signifying it to be the part of the same ‘U’ family that company introduced earlier this year, the HTC U Ultra and U Play.

He also notes that the HTC U 11 smartphone will be sold in five different colors; white, black, blue, red, and silver. However, not all the colours will be made available in all the regions, he said.

HTC has confirmed that it will unwrap a new smartphone under the ‘U’ range on May 16. Previous rumours suggest that the phone will feature glossy ‘liquid surface’ glass on the back panel. It will have a 5.5-inch WQHD (2560×1440) display, the latest Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM. The highlight of the smartphone is said to be its Edge Sense technology that will feature touch sensitive frame enabling the user to input touch gestures and control different actions.

Leak reports also suggest that the new HTC U 11 will sport a 12-megapixel IMX362 Sony sensor on the rear side and a 16-megapixel IMX351 sensor for selfies and videos. It is tipped to come in 64 GB and 128 GB variants with microSD expansion. The smartphone is said to run HTC Sense 9 based Android 7.1 Nougat.
