Azerbaijan at the event is represented by a delegation of eight people, headed by Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade. The delegation includes representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, The Internet Community of Azerbaijan and Permanent Delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN in Geneva and other international organizations.
The forum provides an opportunity to exchange positive experiences in the development of the information society, dissemination of knowledge, expanding cooperation and identifying new advanced development trends.
The official opening of the forum took place on June 13. Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zhao and officials of the United Nations other industry organizations spoke in the plenary part.
The Azerbaijani delegation also took part in high-level discussions.
Within the framework of the summit, the winners of the “World Summit on the Information Society 2017” award were also awarded. Thus, projects on electronic system of various countries, including certain governmental and non-governmental organizations of Azerbaijan were presented in the competition announced by ITU on March 30 - April 30 of current year. 345 electronic projects were considered successful and allowed to participate in the competition , 143 of which represented the public sector, 77 - business sector, 56 - civil society.
In total, 90 “Champion projects” were selected as a result of the competition held on the basis of online voting on 18 nominations. The project Electronic Information System on Notification of Labour Contract submitted by Azerbaijan became one of the 5 projects which received the largest number of votes in the nomination “ICT Programs: E-Employment”.
The award was presented to the representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Thus, for the first time Azerbaijan was awarded the ITU award in the field of successful application of information and communication technologies (ICT).
It should be noted that the “Electronic Information System on Notification of Labour Contract” has been applying for about 3 years and is provided through the portal Electronic Government, which is operated by Data Processing Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. This service is one of the most frequently used services on the portal. Thus, over the past period, about 47.2 million appeals were registered on the portal Electronic Government which covers 450 electronic services, of which about 7 million or 14.6 percent were related to the Electronic Information System on Notification of Labour Contract.
The forum will run until June 16. Ministerial meeting, numerous discussions and presentations at a high level will be held within the forum. The Azerbaijani delegation will take an active part in these events.
