Azerbaijani Nar Mobile launches 3G services in several metro stations
Nar Mobile launched first 3G services in metro stations of Azerbaijan, Nar Mobile CEO for business development and communications Leyla Nasrullayeva told.
"Now in addition to 2G services Nar Mobile subscribers will be able to use fast speed mobile connectivity in the following metro stations: Sahil, Nizami and 28 May," Nasrullayeva said.
Baku metro is one of the most used public transport means and from now on Nar Mobile customers will be the first to enjoy 3G services for surfing internet, using email accounts and social networks, download large content.
"Expansion to metro is part of preparations for Eurovision 2012. By May 2012 all visitors to Eurovision 2012 who choose our network will have good quality mobile broadband, which will make their stay in Azerbaijan more comfortable" Nasrullayeva said.
It was also mentioned that by May, 2012 3G services will be introduced in all metro stations. Currently, Nar Mobile provides up to 14.4 mbp/s speed 3G services.
"Some $85 million was invested in modernization and expansion of the network of Nar Mobile. Upon completion of network expansion Nar Mobile will have the largest 3G network in Azerbaijan covering all cities and thereby making mobile broadband accessible to everyone in the country. With completion of the network modernization scheduled for May 2012 Nar Mobile also put 4G network in Azerbaijan," Nasrullayeva said. Nar Mobile company, which is the first of three mobile operators in Azerbaijan licensed for rendering 3G service, started introducing 3G network from December 2009.
