Danger of landslide still remains
The situation in the landslide zone in Muganli village in Shamakhi region remains dangerous. Danger of landslide still remains for the Baku-Gazakh segment of the ‘TAE’ fiber optic cable line, which passes through this zone. The ‘Aztelecom’ Production Unit maintains constant control over this cable line connecting Europe with Asia in order to prevent occurrence of any problems and threats which can inflict damage to it.
A corresponding order was given to place the security brigade on high alert. Additional duty teams have been formed from different groups of worker. A plan has been worked out to remove consequences of possible landslides.
According to information presented to ‘ICTnews’ by a correspondent of ‘Rabita Dunyasi’, because of the complicity of the situation in the landslide zone, a new over-ground communication line has been laid as alternative to the existing underground cable line.
As part of these preventive measures, in some areas underground cables have been taken out onto the ground surface. Similar preventive measures have been also implemented in other areas.
Some areas in Gobustan region have been also hit by landslides. As a result of these natural disasters, the part of the Baku-Gazakh fiber-optic cable line that passes through these areas has fallen under the threat of landslide. An alternative optic cable line was laid over a distance of 650 m. as a preventive measure against this threat.
All these measures were taken to insure uninterruptedness of communication. All the dangerous zones have been taken under control by the ‘Aztelecom’ Production Unit. Let’s note that landslides basically occur during the rainy fall season.
The highway, which was closed as a result of natural disasters taking place in Agsu pass and Muganli village, has been opened only for motor cars. In this connection, ‘Azeryolservis’ JSC began to carry out reconstruction work on this road. In order to prevent possible damages to optic cables passing through the construction site employees of the ‘Aztelecom’ PU worn construction workers on the areas through which the cable lines pass.
