European Union’s commissioner for Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes will take part in VII Internet Management Forum to be held in Baku in November 2012


The Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Head of Azerbaijani Representation in the European Union Fuad Isgandarov. 

During the meeting they discussed Azerbaijan-Belgium relations in the ICT sphere.  "Belgium has a wide experience in the information and communication technologies and postal spheres. Azerbaijan, in its turn, is a country which occupies the leading position in the ICT sphere among other countries of the region. From this perspective, there exist good opportunities for establishing cooperation between the two countries in this sphere".  F. Isgandarov said.He also stressed the importance of the large-scale activities ongoing in the ICT sphere in Azerbaijan. 

The ambassador said that the European Union has its centre in Brussels, and the cooperation between the two countries will be very beneficial for Azerbaijan from the political point of view, because through this cooperation Azerbaijan will be able to establish new relations and strengthen its ties with the other European countries.

"Azerbaijan will enter a new stage in the development of information and communication technologies". During the meeting F. Isgandarov told the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov that the European Union’s commissioner for Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes will also take part in VII Internet Management Forum to be held in Baku in November 2012 on the joint imitative of UN and the Azerbaijani Government.

"The forum might consider Azerbaijan – EU cooperation in the ICT sphere and identify new directions for this cooperation". In his turn, the Minister Ali Abbasov  noted that Neelie Kroes’ participation in the VII Internet Management Forum will have positive  impact on relations between Azerbaijan, which was appointed by UN as a coordinator of "Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM), and Western European countries, which are main customers of TASIM.
