Contract signed with mobile operators to implement MNP service in Azerbaijan
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MCIT) held a meeting to discuss issues related to the implementation of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service in Azerbaijan. Heads of mobile operator companies also took part in the activity.
During the meeting contracts for rendering MNP service were signed between the Data Calculation Centre of MCIT that will supervise the operation of this service and “Azercell Telekom” , “Bakcell LTD” and “Azerfon” LLC mobile operator companies.
It was agreed at the meeting that MCIT would announce the date of commencement of MNP service after the sides express their readiness to start providing these service.
It should be reminded that MCIT and mobile operators conducted joint activities with the aim of introducing MNP service in the country, including adoption of various normative legal documents, installation and testing of necessary equipment.
As a result of these activities, all existing technical issues were resolved, and a number of contracts for introduction and application of MNP service were singed.
