State agencies’ IT application rating goes public in Vietnam
The Department of Information and Communication of Hanoi, for the first time, has made public the IT application rating of state agencies and offices in the city. According to Mr. Pham Quoc Ban, Head of the Department of Information and Communications, the rating will help each state agency assess its own IT performance in comparison with practical requirements so as to work out more proper IT application plans in the coming years.
The Customs Department, State Treasury and Department of Planning and Investment are among the top units in the rating. Meanwhile, Tay Ho and Son Tay districts earn high scores for the implementation of infrastructure deployment and policies for IT application.
Ban added that shared software applications in offices in Hanoi have been proven effective, thereby creating solid foundation for the “E-Government” plan for 2011-2015. The city also strives to provide broadband internet access for all public officials, promote the use of e-mails in all public offices, and have 80 per cent of public records and documents managed and exchanged electronically by 2015.
In addition, Hanoi aims for the entire leadership and administrative bodies in Hanoi to excel computer skills, and all administrative procedures to be processed online to increase the transparency of administrative work.
