According to recent statistics of Universal Postal Union, at least 70 Posts worldwide provide postal savings account services.
On average, postal financial services account for 15% of global postal revenues, which in 2007, reached 340 billion US dollars.
In Arab and Asian countries, postal financial services account for 40% or more of revenues.
A UPU study among 5,561 communes in Brazil shows that the opening of a postal bank branch in one of these communes has directly led to increasing the number of jobs by 14% and small- and medium-sized businesses by 23% over a four-year period.
