China National Bureau of Statistics upgrades “smart computing” system
The China National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Data Management Centre will soon embark on the second phase of the Smarter Computing business project that will deliver services faster, with higher quality and better economics.
The solution will help support integration of system resources and improve the system’s ability to process massive amounts of core business information and to enable online data collection and direct reporting, as well as interconnected application integration and intelligent statistical analysis.
After completion, online direct reporting will be increased to 10 million cases monthly.
The Smarter Computing business platform was launched last 2010. The cloud computing system ensured the smooth operation of two major NBS application systems – the sixth national population census and the direct business information reporting process.
During the sixth national population census the new system took just two minutes to complete statistical forms for a group of 1.3 billion people that normally took an entire day, if not longer, to complete.
The NBS system is also able to monitor core business systems and handle the automatic distribution of computing resources.
