Azercosmos and Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory join efforts
A meeting with the employees of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory has been held at the Main Ground Satellite Control Center of Azercosmos OJSC. The participants of the meeting discussed such topics as “Risks posed to Azerspace-1 satellite by space debris”, “Problem of crossing satellite trajectories”, “Photographing of satellites with the use telescopes”, “Calculation of exact coordinates of satellites”, “Development of nano-satellites” and “Astrophysical space experiments”.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory were provided with detailed information about Azercosmos OJSC, Azerspace-1 satellite, including its technical specifications, spheres of application of Azersky satellite and the next satellite projects. The meeting underlined the importance of the development of the space industry in Azerbaijan. It was also noted that the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory had made a significant contribution to conducting space research activities in the republic.
Towards the end of the meeting, Azercosmos OJSC and the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory reached an agreement on assessment of risks posed to Azerspace-1 satellite by space debris and crossing satellite trajectories, forewarning Azercosmos OJSC of these threats, periodic photographing of Azerspace-1 satellite with the use of telescopes and calculation of Azerspace-1 satellite’s coordinates.
