British company hires office manager robot
European scientists under the guidance of experts from the University of Birmingham have created an Autonomous learning robot, which started to work in one of the British companies. Betty (the developers decided to call the robot a female name) started working as a trainee office Manager with a probation period of two months.
The duties of the robot includes monitoring of office, all actions will be performed by the people. Betty will follow the order in the office and on the desktops of employees: if an object is not in place, the robot will report its location to the owner.
Also, the robot will track the temperature, humidity and noise level in the office, to ensure that fire doors were closed, to note how many employees the company remain in the premises after the end of the day and report it to the security office. In addition, Betty will welcome visitors and guests of the company.
Installed software and sensors allow the robot to map the office and mark on it various objects, such as tables and chairs, as well as "to notice" changes in the environment: how employees move around the office where you opened or closed the door or a new facility. If necessary, Betty alone will give the command to its docking station to recharge the batteries.
Earlier, the Japanese company SoftBank has developed Pepper robot that can recognize human emotions. In early 2016, the company tested the robot as a seller of mobile phones.
