Two-day volleyball tournament held within ‘Saglamlig-2016’ Spartakiada Games comes to an end
The two-day volleyball tournament, which was held within "Saglamlig-2016" Spartakiada Games for communication workers, has come to an end.
Note that Spartakiada Games are organized in Azerbaijan in connection with the professional holiday of workers of the sphere of communications and high technologies. This year’s games are dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the creation of telephone communications in the country.
The Games are organized jointly by the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republican Committee of Independent Trade Union of Communications Workers and "Spartak" Sports Society.
The teams were first divided into 2 groups. Under the competition regulations, the teams which had won the first places in Groups A and B, respectively, had to compete for the championship. And the teams which had taken second places in either group had to fight for the third place.
The volleyball team of Aztelecom LLC took the first place in Group A after it had won the team of the State Administration for Radio Frequencies with a score of 2:1, team of Data Processing Centre with a score of 2:0 and the team of Azerpost with a score of 2:0. The State Administration for Radio Frequencies took the second place in this group.
Baku Telephone Communication Production Association took the first place in Group B. The second place in this group was taken by the Paramilitary Security Services Department.
Yesterday, the teams that had taken second places in either group competed with each other in the sports hall of the Volleyball Federation. The volleyball team of the Paramilitary Security Services Department took the third place by winning the team of the State Administration for Radio Frequencies.
The teams of Aztelecom LLL and Baku Telephone Communication Production Association fought with each other in the final match for the title of champion. The volleyball team of Aztelecom LLL won the final match with a score of 2:0 and became the champion of the volleyball tournament.
Note that 14 teams, including more than 500 athletes, that represent different structures subordinated to the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, will take part in "Saglamlig-2016" Spartakiada Games, which will be held in 9 sports - athletics, volleyball, table tennis, tug-of-war, five-a-side, backgammon, chess, checkers and bullet shooting.
