Azerbaijan becomes a member of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization
The 37th meeting of the Assembly of Parties of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) has kicked off in Washington, the United States.
After intense discussions and negotiations conducted on the first day of the event, Azerbaijan was elected a member of the Mandate Committee of ITSO from the Group of Countries of Eastern Europe and Northern Asia (Group C).
Then, by the unanimous decision of the member states of ITSO, Director of Legal Department of Azerkosmos OJCS of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies Ilgar Abdullayev was elected Chairman of the Mandate Committee, of which Luxembourg, Bhutan, South Africa and Canada are also members.
Addressing the event as Chairman of the Mandate Committee, Ilgar Abdullayev expressed gratitude to the member states for the confidence they had shown in our country. In his speech, Ilgar Abdullayev touched upon a number of issues falling within the competence of ITSO.
Along with the representative of Azercosmos OJSC of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, Azerbaijan is represented at the event by the employees of Azerbaijan Embassy in the US Emil Safarov and Sarhan Ismailov.
The 37th meeting of the Assembly of Parties of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), which is taking place at American University Washington College of Law with the participation of representatives of 149 countries from around the world, will last till October 14.
The new Director General of ITSO is expected to be selected at the meeting from among three candidates from France, Spain and Uganda.
