Netgear’s Nighthawk X10 claims to be ‘world’s fastest router’
Netgear announced what it claims to be the “world’s fastest router.” The company says that the Nighthawk X10 is perfect for those who are looking for robust performance when streaming media, playing online games, and backing up big files over the internet. The Nighthawk X10 AD7200 Smart Wi-Fi Router as it’s called is the latest addition to the Nighthawk brand that Netgear launched around three years back.
The Nighthawk X10 is powered by a 1.7GHz quadcore processor which happens to be the fastest in a home router as well as quad-stream Wave 2 Wi-Fi architecture. It’s capable of handling next-gen 802.11ad Wi-Fi with speeds of up to 7.2 gigabits per second.
The latest MU-MIMO technology is also onboard to support simultaneous streaming, the external Active Antennae simplify the router’s signals for maximum range and throughput. It also has support for Plex Media Server with transcoding for effortless 4K media streaming even to remote devices. It happens to be the first router of its kind to run Plex Media Server without requiring a PC. Plex can provide access to all kinds of content from locally connected storage.
Netgear says that the Nighthawk X10 is the industry’s first home router that comes with a 10-gigabit port with support for a fiber connection. All of this does come at a price. You can pick up the Netgear Nighthawk X10 for $499.99.
