Scientists develop a touchscreen that avoids erroneous reading of touches
At present, several companies are engaged in the designing of flexible electronic devices, in particular smartphones and tablet computers. Such projects are implemented by South Korean Samsung as well.
Touchscreen is an input device that responds to touch. Usually this is a transparent glass, which is installed on top of the classic display.
Various technologies are used in systems having this design: from induction and strain-gauge to optical and projection-capacitive.
Nevertheless, they do not allow the creation of touchscreens that are resistant to deformation, so scientists are trying to develop a flexible touch screen.
Scientists successfully tested the sensor, superimposed on the display of the smartphone Samsung Air View.
According to the researchers, the technology avoids the erroneous reading of touches when the thickness of the hydrogel changes as a result of bending or tension.
It is assumed that the new touchscreen can be used with flexible electronics, naked-science.ru reports.
