Xiaomi Intros Mi 6 Flagship With SD835 SoC, 6GB Of RAM

Following months of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has just introduced their new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 6. The Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch display, just like its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 5. That being said, This handset is made out of metal and glass, and it resembles the Xiaomi Mi 5 quite a bit. The fingerprint scanner (more on that later) / home key is considerably larger on the Xiaomi Mi 6, however, and there are two camera snappers on the back of the company’s all-new flagship, compared to the Xiaomi Mi 5’s single rear-facing shooter.

Having that in mind, the Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080), which means it not only comes with the same display size as the Xiaomi Mi 5, but it also shares the same resolution as its predecessor. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz is in charge of fueling the Xiaomi Mi 6, and as many of you probably already know, this is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor at the moment, and definitely one of the most powerful mobile SoCs out there. The Snapdragon 835 comes with the Adreno 540 GPU for graphics, and the Xiaomi Mi 6 will ship with 6GB of RAM on the inside, while both 64GB and 128GB storage variants will be available. On the back of the Xiaomi Mi 6 handset, you’ll find two 12-megapixel snappers, and next to them lies a dual-LED, dual-tone flash. The company’s branding is also placed on the back of the device, and as you can see, its back side is curved, as it was on the Xiaomi Mi Note devices, and the Xiaomi Mi 5.

An 8-megapixel shooter is placed on the front side of the Xiaomi Mi 6 handset, and the phone’s power / lock key can be found on the right, same goes for the device’s volume rocker keys. The Xiaomi Mi 6’s Dual SIM card tray is placed on the left, while the device comes with a 3,350mAh battery. Xiaomi actually went ahead and shared some AnTuTu scores for the Xiaomi Mi 6, the phone managed to hit 184,292 points on AnTuTu, and actually beat the Samsung Galaxy S8 in this regard. The Xiaomi Mi 6 does not sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, unfortunately, and the phone comes with an under the glass fingerprint scanner. On top of all that, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is splash resistant, which is certainly something many of you will appreciate, especially considering the Mi 5 did not offer anything like it. Android Nougat comes pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi 6, along with the company’s MIUI 8 OS.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a set of dual speakers, one is placed above the display, and the other one on the bottom of the device. In addition to the regular Xiaomi Mi 6 which comes in Black, White and Blue color variants, the company also introduced two special edition variants of the device, the limited edition Xiaomi Mi 6 Silver Edition, and a ceramic variant of the phone, the Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic. The ceramic variant of the device actually comes with an 18-karat gold camera rims, believe it or not. The Xiaomi Mi 6 will become available on April 28 through Mi.com, Mi Home stores and some other partner sites in China. The Xiaomi Mi 6 with 64GB of storage is priced at 2,499 Yuan ($363), while the 128GB storage variant costs 2,899 Yuan ($421). If you’d like to get the ceramic model of the Mi 6, you’ll have to splash out 2,999 Yuan ($436).
