Multimedia payphones to appear in Baku prior to "Eurovision"
About 100 multimedia payphones will be installed in Baku prior to hosting the Eurovision 2012 contest, General Manager of Baku Telephone Communications under the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry Beytulla Huseynov said.
He said one of the advantages of these devices, in addition to providing voice communication, is also the possibility of providing information services.
For example, information about Azerbaijan is expected to be posted in them. "The payphones will be located in the central streets of Baku, in crowded places, mostly near the venue of Eurovision-2012," Huseynov said.
Multimedia Payphone is a fundamentally new device that combines the functions of a payphone and a computer. In addition to conventional telephony services, the device allows access to the Internet, sends emails, views video ads, etc.
Universal payphones provide local, long distance and international calls at any time. Access to first responders and service telephone services are provided free of charge.
Today, Baku Telephone Communication's payphone park includes 1,200 payphones, approximately 200 of which are a new type of device (GSM and CDMA payphones that accept payment by money as well as with the use of payment cards).
