The Chinese quantum satellite transmitted data for 7600 kilometers

The Chinese quantum satellite was launched into orbit two years ago. Since then, he has helped in a number of experiments, and last summer he was able to transmit information to three ground stations located at a distance of a thousand kilometers from each other.

The other day, Chinese physicists again set a record, passing data on a protected channel between the Austrian city of Graz and the Chinese Xinglong. The distance between the cities is more than 7 thousand kilometers.

The developers explained that the purpose of the experiment is the demonstration of the operability of this network. So they set everything up, and after that they sent the information first to one, and then to the other end. This means that in the near future, Chinese experts will be able to design and intercontinental quantum network and use it to convey information.

This, according to the participants of the experiment from the Austrian side, opens up new opportunities for developing a full-fledged quantum Internet, the creation of which is not far off.

Thanks to the phenomenon of quantum entanglement, such data transmission cannot be cracked, so the probability of hacking or wiretapping is completely excluded. The developers are confident that quantum technologies will be widely used in the future.
