Gadabey communication hub to connect to Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE) fiber-optic cable highway
The Azerbaijani segment of the Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE) international fiber-optic cable line is expanding. According to sources from PA “Aztelekom”, Gadabay communication hub will be connected the fiber-optic TAE cable line.
Under the project all the villages in Shamkir-Gadabay direction will be directly connected to this line to raise quality of their communication. Currently, works are underway to connect Yardimli and Nftchala communications hubs to TAE cable highway.
After Dashkasan communication hub connects to TAE cable line, the Azerbaijan will become the first republic among CIS countries, which has all its regional centers connected to TAE cable highway.
Les note that on October 21,1999 Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia signed a trilateral protocol for implementation of this large-scale project. The construction of the Azerbaijani segment of TAE fiber-optic cable started the same year.
Construction of the overland part of Azerbaijani segment of TAE cable highway was completed in 2001, and in the same year communication channels between Baku and Tbilisi switched to TAE fiber-optic cable highway.
