China develops new type of computer memory
Scientists at Fudan University in Shanghai have developed a new data storage technology that combines the properties of RAM (RAM) and permanent memory (ROM).
The ROM ensures that our computers and smartphones know how to boot. RAM allows you to run programs on computers. The new third type of computer memory is capable of performing both these functions. Experts note that the development of the third type of memory was dictated by the fact that neither RAM nor ROM are perfect in themselves. All device systems can quickly access data stored in RAM, but the moment you turn off your device, all that data disappears and an unexpected shutdown can result in a complete loss of unsaved data.
Chinese researchers say that their new type of computer memory is not only able to save all the data, but also allows the user to decide how long they need to be stored. This feature enhances the security of information and can make the new type of memory a strong competitor in the market.
