Sales of tablet computers globally continue to decline, as evidenced by statistics from Digitimes Research.
It is estimated that in the first quarter of this year worldwide were sold approximately 33 million tablets. This is 28.2 % less compared to the previous quarter and by 14.9% compared with the first quarter of 2017.
In the future demand for tablets will continue to decline. Analysts predict that in the current quarter, the global market will be at the level of 31.1 million units.
Experts say that tablet sales are falling, despite the emergence of new models with improved performance. The observed pattern analysts attribute the high popularity of smartphones and phablets. In addition, consumers prefer not to hurry with the update available at the hands of tablets.
It is noted that now the most popular tablets equipped with a display size of 9.7 inches diagonally and more.
According to IDC, tablet shipments by year-end 2017 totaled 163.5 million units. For comparison: in 2016, was implemented 174,9 million tablets. Thus, the demand was at the level of 6.5 %. The three leading producers in 2017 includes Apple, Samsung and Amazon, respectively with shares of 26.8 %, 15.2% and 10.2 %.
