More than 20,000 electronic signature certificates were issued in the first half of this year
The popularity of electronic signature certificates among the citizens of the country in terms of both the number of their usages and the expansion of their application continues to grow.
Thus, a total of 20,454 electronic signature certificates were issued by the National Certification Services Center of the Data Processing Center during the first 6 months of this year. 6,780 of them were issued to state organizations, 9,132 – to legal entities and 4,542 – to physical persons.
Note that a total of 10,582 certificates were issued during the same period of last year (3,440 to state organizations; 4,560 – legal entities; 1,580 – physical persons).
A total of 146,874 electronic signature certificates were issued in the country during the period starting from the launch of electronic signature certificates in the country until 1 July 2018. 82,390 of them were issued to state organizations; 28,894 – to physical persons and 35,590 – to legal entities.
2,184 electronic signature certificates were issued last month. 820 of them were issued to state organizations; 280 – to physical persons and 1,084 – to legal entities.
The number of transactions made with the use of electronic signature also continues growing.
Thus, to date, a total of 37,304,957 authentication and electronic signature-related operations have been carried out in the country. 28,869,002 of them were carried out by state organizations and – 8,435,955– by legal entities and physical persons.
According to statistical data, 7,433,407 authentication and electronic signature-related operations were carried out in the country during the first 6 months of 2018, which makes about 20% of the total number of operations. 5,663,144 of them were carried out by state organizations and 1,770,263– by legal entities and physical persons.
Note that electronic signature is one of the means of identifying a user in the virtual environment. According to the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan, electronic documents signed with an electronic signature are as legally valid as paper-based documents certified by handwritten signature and seal. Being a code unit, it performs all the functions of a signature in the electronic system, such as encoding of the sent data, confirmation of information, and identification of the sender.
