Global smartphone sales volume will decline -1% YoY in 2018
According to Strategy Analytics’ report, global smartphone sales volume will decline -1% YoY in 2018, and rebound to +2% YoY in 2019.
The weak performance is the combined result of extended smartphone replacement cycle, increased smartphone prices, industry consolidation, saturated China and US market, as well as economic headwinds / uncertainties etc.
Experts expect the growth rate will pick up from 2020 onwards mainly driven by 5G and new hardware innovations. Worldwide smartphone sales volumes will steadily expand by +23% from 2018 to 2023.
Asia Pacific remains as the biggest region, followed by North America. The three largest smartphone countries in the next five years will be China, India and the USA, due to their massive populations. The extensive report forecasts global smartphone sales, for 88 countries worldwide, from 2007 to 2023.
The report covers almost every major country worldwide, including the United States, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
The report can be used by operators, software developers, content developers, smartphone vendors, component makers, car manufacturers and other stakeholders to determine the size and growth rate of the huge global smartphone market.
