Robo Soccer tournament to be organized within Innovation Week

Baku Open Cyber Cup tournament will be organized on October 28 by Azerbaijan Cybersport Federation with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and in partnership with Heydar Aliyev Center and Microsoft Azerbaijan within the framework of the International Innovation Week to be held in Azerbaijan for the first time on October 26-30. Within the tournament in Heydar Aliyev Center, along with competitions in two kinds of games (FIFA 19 and Mortal Kombat) on the Xbox platform, a Robo Soccer tournament will also be organized by Azerbaijan Robotics Engineering Academy.

In addition to demonstrating the real possibilities of robotics, the tournament serves to increase the interest of teenagers and young people in science and technology.

Selected teams of secondary schools will take part in the tournament with their robots.

It should be noted that the robots declared by the teams should not exceed the established limit on weight and size (no more than 1 kg and 22 cm). At the same time, robots are to be constructed using strictly LEGO brand pieces only.

The tournament will be held in a team format. According to the rules, the number of participants in a team must be 2 or 3 people. Teams of two on two autonomous robots must chase an infra-red transmitting ball around a WRO (World Robot Olympiad) size table top field with the aim to kick more goals than the opposition.

Games will last 5 minutes and consist of two halves. Only the final games will last 10 minutes. To get into the final, the teams should compete in a group stage. Teams will be allocated three points for a win, one point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.
