Baku Open Cyber Cup e-sports tournament was held. The tournament was held within the framework of the International Innovation Week organized by Azerbaijan Cybersport Federation with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies in partnership with Heydar Aliyev Center and Microsoft Azerbaijan. Competitions were organized in two kinds of games (FIFA 19 and Mortal Kombat) on the Xbox platform.
The tournament was attended by persons over 15 years of age. 32 participants in each kind of game contended for the championship in the tournament, which was held at Heydar Aliyev Center. Following the games held on the Olympic system, winners were determined.
Thus, Novruzov Seymur Huseyn oglu became winner at FIFA 19. Guluzade Suleyman Nariman oglu and Chiragly Mammad Anar oglu took the second and third places respectively.
Mirzayev Emil Yaser oglu became winner in the game Mortal Kombat. Ganbarli Vusal Namig oglu, Huseyn Orkhan Samir oglu became winners of the second and third places respectively.
The winners were awarded cash prizes.
Note that a robots football tournament (RoboFootball) was also organized within the Baku Open Cyber Cup, organized by Azerbaijan Robotics Engineering Academy.
The purpose of the tournament, demonstrating the real possibilities of robotics, was to increase the interest of teenagers and young people in science and technology. Selected teams of comprehensive secondary schools took part in the tournament with their robots.
It should be noted that the robots declared by the teams should not exceed the established limit on weight and height (no more than 1 kg and 22 cm). At the same time, robots are to be constructed using strictly LEGO brand pieces only.
According to the rules, the number of participants in a team was 2 or 3 people. Teams of two on two autonomous robots chased an infra-red transmitting ball around a WRO (World Robot Olympiad) size table top field with the aim to kick more goals than the opposition.
Games lasted 5 minutes and consisted of two halves. The final games lasted 10 minutes. First, the teams competed in a group stage in order to get into the final. Teams were allocated three points for a win, one point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.
Thus, Naghizade Rustam and Safarov Tural (team Robotman ) became winners of the robots football tournament among adults. Representatives of team “School of Peace” Elchin Guliyev, Heydar Aliyev and Rasul Nabili became winners of the second place, Lazgiyev Haji and Ismayilov Javid ( team Golden Ring) became winners of the third place.
The winners of the robotics tournament among youngsters were also determined. Ismayilov Namig, Sklyar Rasul and Aliyev Aykhan (team Humanoid) won the championship. The second place went to Seyidali Mirmatin, Mammadov Ilham, Shamshirli Zahra (team Transformer) and the third place winners were Alikhanbeyli Amin, Miriyev Mohammad, Aliyev Mohammad (team Droqan).
