Google Launches WizPhone WP006 – $7 4G Smartphone Running on KaiOS
In the last couple of years, we are seeing the feature phones with advanced features like 4G LTE connectivity. Recently, Google also added the Google Assistant support the KaiOS powered features phones. The JioPhone and Nokia 8110 4G are first 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phones to get the Google Assistant phone. Google Indonesia has unveiled a new feature phone called WizPhone WP006 at the #GoogleForIndonesia event.
Unlike other 4G feature phones, the Wizphone WP006 costs just IDR 99,000 (approx USD 7 / INR 500). It runs on the KaiOS and comes with a dedicated button to trigger Google Assistant. The Indonesian users can also access the Google Assistant in their native language, i.e. Bahasa Indonesia. With the Google Assistant, the WizPhone can use voice commands to do many tasks like making calls, sending messages, or playing music/videos. Even Facebook’s Whatsapp is also available on KaiOS.
It is backed by a 1800mAh battery that is mentioned to last up to 350 hours. In terms of performance, the Wizphone WP006 comes packed with Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform (MSM8905). It offers 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be further expandable using a MicroSD card. In terms of optics, the device sports a 2MP camera on the rear and a VGA camera on the front. As of now, there is no information regarding the availability of the Wizphone WP006.
