3 services via 1 line
Baku Telephone Communication LLC of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies is demonstrating at the Bakutel-2018 exhibition the latest innovations implemented at the telecommunication infrastructure of the capital city.
Visitors can obtain detailed information about three services that are provided by Baktelecom via one line using GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology and that don’t require additional equipment. The technology, implemented within the “Optics to home” project, provides easy access to telephone, internet and IPTV services through optical line.
In order to provide services to more customers, Baktelecom has already signed a contract with the Finland-based Nokia company, which has gained worldwide reputation in the field of communication technologies. During the first stage of the implementation of the contract, Baktelecom will obtain 400 thousand pieces of equipment.
It should be noted that within the “Optics to Home” project an infrastructure has been created to provide services to 40 thousand apartments in Baku. This figure is expected to increase to 100 thousand next year.
At the same time, exhibition visitors will be provided with detailed information about the advantages of LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology, implemented in the areas of Baku that suffer from a lack of telecommunication infrastructure, and the coverage of the wireless network.
As of March 2018, residents of all villages located in Absheron peninsula, including some areas of Baku, have been provided with multimedia services through the wireless network. An infrastructure has now been created to connect 15 thousand residents to telecommunication services.
The implementation of the project will continue in 2019, and the coverage of the wireless network will be further expanded. Thus, an infrastructure covering 30 thousand residents will be commissioned next year.
Another Baktelecom’s service which is being demonstrated at the exhibition is called the “Separate Internet Channel” service. This service is provided to houses and corporate organizations via fiber-optic lines. The “Separate Internet Channel” service offers individuals and corporate clients an easy access to video surveillance, IP telephony and IPTV services at preferential tariffs.
