A 4.6 billion-dollar tunnel running through the sea launched in Hong Kong
A new car tunnel worth $ 4.6 billion was opened in central Hong Kong, according to TASS, quoted by BTA.
According to the local authorities, the implementation of the infrastructure project took ten years. A length of 3.7 km passes along the northern coast of the island of Hong Kong and partly at the bottom of the sea. It is part of a 4.5 kilometer long motorway with three lanes in both directions, which aims to facilitate traffic in central Megapolis.
The passage through the tunnel will be free.
The facility has a unique ventilation and purification system of the air which removes up to 80 percent of the harmful exhaust particles and can filter for one hour up to 5.4 million cubic meters of air.
