Scientists create sensor for monitoring human health in space

Skoltech and MIPT scientists have created a cardiac sensor for monitoring human health in orbit, according to an article in the journal Russian Space.

"A lightweight wireless cardiac sensor will not interfere with the cosmonauts in everyday life, and the artificial intelligence system will monitor the slightest disturbances in the heart work," the article says.

"Our device is very important for people working in orbit, where the body is subjected to extreme loads. It will help develop preventive medicine that will detect the first symptoms of a developing disease and eliminate it," Tatyana Podladchikova, an employee of the Skoltekh Space Center, said.

The article says that the scientists hope to implement the innovation in the near future.
