WhatsApp users face another phishing attack
Users of WhatsApp messenger are facing another phishing attack. As reported in a press release received by the editors”.ru” it was discovered by employees of the company ESET.
The attached link led to a fake website similar to the official portal of the music platform.
The user had to fill out a questionnaire and send a fake letter to 30 friends to “activate” the premium subscription. In addition, the victim received a message about the attacking system viruses, to protect yourself from them offering to install a special app from the Google Play store. It was a program showing ads.
According to ESET, users living in Latin America were subjected to the largest number of the attacks.
Experts in cybersecurity are advised to check all data relating to promotions and sweepstakes on the official websites of companies and never go on suspicious links.
Earlier hackers attacked users of WhatsApp with the help of harmful program that spied on victims. Infection gadgets happened via phone call.
