Youth Workshop on Cyber Security held
Youth Workshop on Cyber Security was held jointly by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 21, 2019. The workshop aimed to inform young people and future generations about the existing and potential threats on the global network.
The goal of the workshop is to raise the level of awareness in the area of cyber security and general training, to stimulate more active involvement of young people in providing the security of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cyberspace. The event consisted of two sessions.
At the first session of the workshop, presentations were made by representatives of the Electronic Security Service of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies on “Threats in Cyberspace, Attacks and Ways to Protect Against Them” and Azercell Telecom LLC on the topic “Information on Fraud”.
At the second session of the workshop, representatives of Microsoft Azerbaijan and Penteston made presentations on the topic “Modern cyber security”, “Server security / World without servers”.
During the event, young people were informed about the protection of their daily used devices from cyber threats, installing programs in them, cyber defense of logins and passwords, methods of automatic classification of information, encryption and secure data distribution. They were also informed about the prevention of interventions in information systems. Also, the consequences of cyber threats and security measures were reported. It was noted that malicious programs in target devices have the ability to steal information, clear data, disable the system and impede work.
Moreover, an interactive session on cybersecurity solutions based on practical tasks was also organized between the experts who delivered presentations and young people. Young community activists and responsible representatives of youth organizations took part in the discussions.
It should be noted that the Youth Workshop on Cyber Security is held in order to solve issues in the field of cybersecurity, as well as raising awareness level of young people arising from the “Development Strategy of Azerbaijani Youth in 2015-2025”, “The National Strategy for Development of the Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014- 2020” and the State Program for the Implementation of National Strategy for Development of the Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2016-2020, as well as the Development Concept “Azerbaijan 2020: A Look into the Future” approved by relevant orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
