Azerbaijan, Russia discuss opportunities for cooperation in nuclear and radiation technologies, use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes
The delegation led by Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade met with the delegation of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM of the Russian Federation.
Representatives of the Russian corporation, which brings together 360 organizations, and Azerbaijani officials held talks on the current state and prospects of relationship.
The sides also discussed the opportunities for cooperation in the field of nuclear sciences, nuclear and radiation technologies, the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes, etc.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director General for International Relations of ROSATOM Nikolay Nikolaevich Spassky, President of CJSC Rusatom - International Network Alexander Alexandrovich Merten.
During the meeting, issues of joint training of specialists, research in the nuclear field and future prospects for cooperation between the National Nuclear Research Center of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and the structures of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM were discussed.
The main topic of the talks was the training of specialists in the field of nuclear physics and the reactor between ROSATOM company and the National Nuclear Research Center of Azerbaijan, and further expansion of this work.
Given the absence of a large nuclear reactor and other equipment at the National Nuclear Research Center of Azerbaijan, it was decided to work in this direction with the structures of company ROSATOM.
Besides, questions relating to the construction of scientific research facilities, signing of a memorandum between the two companies in this direction in accordance with diplomatic procedure were touched upon.
In the next stage, a large delegation of ROSATOM company is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan and hold a nuclear conference. The participation of Azerbaijani specialists in projects regularly held by ROSATOM and exchange of experience are also envisaged.
