Samsung’s new USB PD chips support up to 100W charging
Samsung wants to rev up the charging speeds on its future devices with its brand new power delivery (PD) chips. Both the SE8A and MM101 feature built-in embedded Flash which allows for future firmware modifications and can supply up to 100W of power across phones, tablets, laptops and monitors.
Safety is another priority as the new chips will offer USB-PD 3.0 which can effectively manage charging speeds and establish the use of certified-only charging products in the case of the SE8A.
The SE8A features an EAL5+ grade Secure Element for extra protection such as handling sensitive information and security key storage. The MM101, on the other hand, comes with its own AES encryption algorithm combined with moisture sensing capabilities ensuring optimal charging conditions.
Samsung has already began mass production of the SE8A and is currently sampling MM101 with its clients.
